Back For Another Post

It took me a bit to get back to the blog as I was doing lots of reading and this always takes me off on many adventures. I found an interesting book on mantras and meditation and I will post the title with comments once I have read into it a bit more. One thing I did like about the book is that it mentions that meditation/mantras can be developed over time after researching many different cultures and disciplines. I like the idea of creating a meditation philosophy that includes a "global view" such as this. I have also recently revisited the director, author, artist David Lynch. I came across his foundation website www.davidlynchfoundation.org/ which supports transcendental meditation for students in schools. In addition to this, I have also been watching his films again with meditation in mind. It is interesting when you look at something again and perhaps again and again and you see "new" things each time. We don't always pay attention the first time.

My First Post

I decided to start a blog because I thought it was only fair due to the amount of positive info/insight I have gotten from other blogs and internet sites. I want to share my thoughts and experiences with others. Maybe I can learn even more this way.  I subscribed to my first blog: Hardcore Zen. I have read many books on Zen meditation and Buddhism in the past few years and I am in the process of creating what I like to call my "philosophy of Zen." I had to create a "philosophy of teaching" when I was in my educational training. This was the first time I thought about having a philosophy of anything. I do believe that we all have a "philosophy of life" whether we think of it this way or not. We each have a core set of ideas about what we are and where we are going and what we would like to experience on the way. I hope to become something more than that "Zen person."
